Tony S Cardno
Dr. Tony Cardno is a scientist with 20 years of industry experience spanning the pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device sectors, across major international companies and research institutes in Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. He was first exposed to high-throughput compound screening at Pfizer (UK), led the miniaturisation of a high-throughput screen against an HIV mRNA frameshifting target at WEHI, and developed fully automated cell-based assays at the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences. He then moved into product development at CSL Behring (R&D Plasma Product Development) before joining SCHOTT MiniFab as a Senior Scientist, working in multidisciplinary teams to translate clients' benchtop assays onto commercial microfluidic cartridges.
Tony joined the Hudson Institute of Medical Research in 2024 as Quality Specialist for the RNAte platform, where he built the quality management system from the ground up, authoring the full Quality Management System document set and achieving NATA ISO/IEC 17025 and GCLP accreditation within approximately a year, making RNAte the first NATA-accredited RNA testing platform in Australia.
