Ben BR Rashidieh

Dr Ben (Behnam) Rashidieh, is a Principal Investigator, and Senior Research Officer at Mater Research, The University of Queensland. As a molecular oncologist, he leads an independent research program focused on RNA-based therapeutics for metastatic cancers. His work integrates molecular cancer biology, tumour microenvironment research, targeted therapies, nanomedicine, and preclinical modelling to investigate metastasis, tumour dormancy, and therapy resistance. His research aims to identify and therapeutically exploit oncogenic dependencies, including oncogene addiction pathways, dysregulated signalling networks, and mechanisms underlying tumour quiescence, relapse, and resistance to cancer therapies. He has extensive expertise in computational biology, advanced in vitro and 3D culture systems, in vivo cancer models, nanomedicine platforms, molecular oncology assays, functional genomics, multi-omics analyses, and genetically engineered and xenograft mouse models. Dr Rashidieh leads multidisciplinary collaborations with clinicians, industry partners, and research core facilities to generate clinically relevant and translational data. Working at the interface of discovery and translation, he has a strong track record in project leadership, grant development, student supervision, and scientific dissemination. His long-term goal is to advance mechanism-driven precision oncology and RNA therapeutics that improve outcomes for patients with aggressive and treatment-refractory cancers.
