While COVID-19 may feel like history, the need for sovereign RNA manufacturing capability in Australia and New Zealand has never been more important. The pandemic highlighted both the potential of lipid nanoparticle (LNP)-based therapeutics and the limitations of current microfluidic manufacturing methods, which remain challenging to scale for efficient GMP production. This presentation explores how next-generation membrane-based crossflow technology (AXF) offers a scalable, reproducible alternative for manufacturing high-quality LNPs from research through to commercial production, accelerating the translation of RNA therapeutics for vaccines, cancer, genetic disorders, infectious diseases, and veterinary applications while strengthening regional biomanufacturing capability for future health challenges.
